TH9 brings with it a lot of challenges. Dragons simply don't work anymore against decent TH9s, and it's easy for attacks to fail in a spectacular fashion as we all know first-hand.
What I am going to challenge you all to do is to start getting 3 stars on other TH9s in wars.
First off, you should read this thread on reddit.

For TH9 GoWiPe is not a strategy that will get you 3 stars very often, although once you get good at it, it's a reliable 2-star strategy.
For all TH9 attacks, there are a couple steps you need to do. You might be able to get away with not doing these and get 1-2 stars, but these are vitally important.
1) Lure and destroy the CC. You need to get the CC troops out of the castle, and you need to get them all. You can actually count and see if you are good and figure out if you got the complete lure or not.
a) depending on the position of the CC, you'll probably need to use hogs to get them out, and enough hogs so that they will all deploy before your units are dead. Giants may be possible to lure, but they probably won't take down a defense and they will just die.
b) Move the CC troops away from defenses. Usually 1 archer strategically placed will do this.
c) Kill all the CC troops. Might use archers, wizards, lightning spell, witches, or archer queen. But BE CAREFUL. Don't sacrifice your royals for their CC troops.
2) Take out the Archer Queen. This can be tricky. Usually what you want to do is use a Golem. You drop the Golem close enough that the archer queen will "lock on" to him. Once that happens, you drop a "kill squad" behind him to take her out. Why? The archer queen is the highest damage defense, she moves around a lot, is fast, has good range, and will destroy your careful plans. You may need to use a jump spell to get your golem close enough, or use wallbreakers.
If you don't do either of these things, your attack will fail.
3) Customize your Kill Squad:
Most attacks at TH9 will require you to have a kill squad. This will be a group of troops deployed to kill the archer queen and/or penetrate the base to kill the town hall. Generally, it will include the King and Queen (aka Royals), a handful of wizards, and a Golem (or 2!) to tank the whole mess. It may include a PEKKA or 2 depending on your composition.
4) Golems are great, but...
You need to understand what Golems are, and what they are not. They are like really big giants. They have huge HP, but they are very slow, and their damage is also TINY. They always target defenses. When they die, they split into 2 weak mini-golems. This is important. GOLEMS DON'T DO DAMAGE. They are merely there as a distraction while your other troops (wizards or archer queen) destroy stuff. Do not drop your Golem early and let it go alone. This is pointless. Don't let your golem die quickly, get support in right away. Drop a heal for your golems if you need to, if they stay alive, you are going to do a lot better. Before you even drop your Golems, you should know where they are going to go, it should be pretty obvious. They are going to head straight for the nearest defense. Read this for a little insight...

5) About those wizards
I love wizards, they do crazy damage. But they are pretty fragile at the same time. You should never, NEVER drop a wizard without something else to distract the defenses. This could be a Barb King, a golem, giants, or PEKKA. If you drop wizards on a cannon, or archer tower, or whatever, they are going to die quickly, maybe even before they get a chance to throw one fireball. They move kind of slow and they attack slow. They need a "meat shield" to protect them.
